Bowling Green set the tone early with some fiery offense on Saturday, as their hot start was too much for the Panthers in a 9-4 road loss.

After Daviess County left multiple runners on base in the first inning, the Purples quickly took off to a 3-0 start with a myriad of singles in the bottom of the first. The Panthers would grab a pair in response during the top of the second, but Bowling Green rattled off five more to take an 8-2 lead into the third.

From then on the Purples would never look back, hanging on for a 9-4 home win over Daviess County. Senior Luke Blue took the loss in his start, allowing seven earned runs off of seven hits and two walks, while striking out one in 1 ⅓ innings pitched.

Sophomore Lucas Ward and junior Carter Nichols led the way at the plate, serving as the only two players with an RBI on the day. The Panthers fall to 13-12 overall with the loss, as they’ll now look to snap their three-game losing streak in a home game with Union County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
